CALL FOR PAPERS
Canadian Journal on Aging
Special Issue on: Issues of Aging in Indigenous Populations
Guest Editor: Jennifer D. Walker, Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Health, Laurentian University, Sudbury, ON Canada
Editor-in-Chief: Paul Stolee, Professor, School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON Canada
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada has called for a widespread recognition that the current state of health in Indigenous populations in Canada is a “direct result of previous Canadian government policies, including residential schools”. The Commission also emphasizes the importance of identifying and closing the current gaps in health outcomes and honouring Indigenous healing practices.
It is in this context that the Canadian Journal on Aging/La Revue canadienne du viellissement invites submissions that address issues of aging in Indigenous populations in Canada and internationally.
Possible topics include but are not limited to:
Contributions from Indigenous scholars, organizations, community-members, leaders and those who work closely with Indigenous populations
Submissions can be in a diverse set of formats, including narrative, story-telling, artistic, editorial or full manuscript formats. Authors are encouraged to include a summary or portion of their submission in an Indigenous language.
Manuscript submissions will be peer-reviewed.
Deadline: Please submit electronically through the journal website by December 29, 2017.
