A Family Guide:
Dementia and the Criminal Justice System
The Dementia Justice Society of Canada is developing a guide for families and friends of persons with dementia who are in conflict with the criminal justice system. The purpose of the publication is to provide plain language information to help families and friends better understand and prepare for what their loved one with dementia may be going through when they are arrested and charged with a crime. Ultimately, we hope to help demystify the criminal justice process as it relates to accused persons and offenders with dementia.
We are currently in the process of recruiting volunteer law students (or graduate students in law). For more information and application instructions, please see the volunteer posting.
